If you have ever joined a party or celebration with your friends, you must have noticed that you need to urinate several times from starting the vibes till falling into a complete hangover. The reason behind this frequent urination is the ethanol present in alcohol. Our Pituitary gland releases an Antidiuretic hormone, which reaches the Kidneys through the bloodstream. This hormone ensures that kidneys should not excrete an excessive amount of water from the body. If kidneys are discharging water in a high amount because of any reason, then in order to prevent dehydration, this ADH, i.e., Antidiuretic hormone instructs the kidneys to increase the count of these Aquaporins proteins present on their cell membrane, which causes the reabsorption of the water in kidneys and avoids an excessive discharge.

However, the Ethanol present in alcohol resists the Pituitary glands to release ADH. So the problem rises when this ethanol blocks the indicator which indicates the kidneys about the amount of water to be absorbed and discharged. And because this ADH hormone no longer reaches the kidneys, the water level monitoring can't take place and our kidneys start releasing all the water they receive.
