बारिश से पहले बादल काले क्यों हो जाते हैं? - By Kishor Singh

The color of clouds is dark or bright depends solely on their density. But the thing worth pondering is what density actually does in the clouds that make them darker before they pour.
Generally, clouds look white because the density of vapor and water droplets present in them is less. What happens because of this is that the tiny droplets present in this cloud, scatter the white sunlight in the same color without absorbing it, which makes the cloud look white.
But when the amount of vapor is more in the cloud, these clouds consist of bigger water droplets. The big water droplets of these dense clouds absorb the sunlight.
Now if you are wondering why those tiny droplets scattered the sunlight but the bigger one just absorbed them, let me tell you that according to physics, an object scatters the light when its size is smaller than that of the light's wavelength, while the objects that are bigger than light's wavelength, simply absorb the light.
The bigger droplets of the dense clouds absorb the sunlight almost completely and hence those clouds look darker from the downside.
